The iconic Fox talk show, The Wendy Williams Show, will end after its fourteenth season this year. It is official that former View co-host, Sherri Shepherd, will take over The Wendy Williams Show timeslot in the fall. Wendy Williams has had unfortunate health issues as of late, including a positive case of COVID-19 and an immune disorder called Graves disease. It was rumored that Sherri Shepherd, who has been the guest host since Williams’s absence, would take over as the new host. The trades confirmed today that Williams will, in fact, not be returning. Wendy Williams was known for her comedic commentary on the latest gossip in hot topics. The Wendy Williams Show won one Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Hairstyling and was nominated 5 times at the Emmys for Outstanding Talk Show Host during the fourteen-year run.

Shepherd has co-hosted several shows like Hollywood Today Live, Best Ever Trivia Show, The Real, The Talk, Dish Nation, and the iconic series The View. Sherri Shepherd has recently been filling in as guest host for The Wendy Williams Show and has become a favorite with the viewers, crew members, and Wendy Williams herself. Williams has endorsed the replacement earlier this month. Co-presidents Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein of Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury said in a statement, “Like our viewers, we have been impressed by the unique comedic twist Sherri puts on our daily live ‘Hot Topics’ segment, her creativity, and interactions with our guests. Her love for the content and daytime fans is obvious, and we are excited to partner with her to create another long-term talk franchise”. Sherri Shepherd has had some comedic roles in Madea Goes to Jail, One for the Money, How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock, Mr. Iglesias, and The Sex Lives of College Girls. Sherri Shepherd’s new show will come out this fall titled Sherri.
