Who are Aftab and Shraddha?

Aftab Amin is a resident of Unique Park, Diwanman in Vasai West. He is a food blogger and runs a food blog on Instagram by the name “HungryChokro”. He used to work in a call center with his girlfriend, Shraddha Walker.

He was residing in Mumbai, he fell in love with Shraddha in 2018. She worked at the call center for a multinational company. Shraddha had been working at the call center since 2019.

Their families refused to accept their relationship then they shifted to Delhi where he rented an apartment in the Chhatarpur area, Mehrauli.

On 18 May 2022, the duo had a heated argument over marriage then Aftab stabbed her to death. He chopped her body into 35 pieces. He bought a refrigerator and kept her body pieces in it. He scattered her body parts over a period of 18 days across the city.

He used to go every night around 2 am to throw her body parts in the forest area of Chhattarpur. He interacted with the woman’s friend using her social media accounts so as to not arouse any suspicion.

Police found 13 body parts after the accused pinpointed the areas where Aftab threw her body parts. 

Delhi Murder: Shraddha Murder Case

When Shraddha’s father filed a complaint at the police station the police arrested Aftab on 12 November 2022. Police arrested him and he confessed to the crime. He got the idea of chopping her body into pieces from Dexter, an American crime tv series.

Shraddha’s friend Rajat Shukla said,

“Today suddenly the news flashed on the mobile of her murder. I was shaken to the core of my soul that my friend has been murdered. She told us in 2019 that she was in a relationship since 2018. They lived together. Initially, they lived happily, but then Sharddha started saying that Aftab beats her. She wanted to leave him but couldn’t do so. Her life had become like hell.”

“While shifting to Delhi, the decision was taken with their mutual consent that they would do a job there. After shifting to Delhi, our contact with her nearly broke.”

Shraddha’s other friend Laxman Nadir said,

“She had contacted me two months ago. She did not reply to any of my texts since August. her phone was switched off. That is when it became a point of concern to me that I should start reaching out to the people. When I got no update, I finally told her brother that I had spoken to her for the last time in July. So it’s better if we reach out to the police and seek their help.”

“They used to have a lot of fights. There was a fight to such an extent that she texted me on WhatsApp and asked me to take her somewhere that night. She said that if she lived with Aftab that night, he would kill her. We, friends, had taken her out of her house that night and also had warned Aftab that we would approach the police. But respecting Shraddha’s sentiments we said that we would not approach the police because she told us not to do so.”

DCP-I South Delhi Ankit Chauhan told ANI,

“The two got together via a dating app in Mumbai. They were in a live-in relationship for three years and had shifted to Delhi. Soon after the two shifted to Delhi, Shraddha started pressurizing the man to marry her.”

“The two quarreled frequently and it used to get out of control. In this particular instance that occurred on May 18, the man lost his temper and strangled her.”

“The accused told us that he chopped her into pieces and disposed of her parts in nearby areas in the jungle area of Chhatarpur Enclave. He has been arrested and an investigation is going on.”

Officials said,

“The accused has been arrested and a case under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of an offence committed) have been registered at Mehrauli police station.”
