Mareddy Ravindranath Reddy entered politics through the TDP (Telugu Desam Party). He contested and lost in the 2011 by-election from the Pulivendula constituency.

He won the 2017 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election from the Cuddapah local body seat as an MLC against former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy, brother of late chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
