HITC dives into the hit Netflix series to get Beef episode 7 explained.

Some TV series are simply impossible to turn off and it’s only worth turning away from the screen momentarily to collect your thoughts before tuning into the next episode.

As it shoots up the Netflix chart, it’s safe to declare that Beef makes for thoroughly addictive viewing.

The American comedy-drama was created by Lee Sung Jin and produced by A24, which has become synonymous with firing out acclaimed indie movies with a near-flawless success rate.

Now, they’ve expanded into TV and audiences are all the better for it, compelled by the story of two individuals, Danny (played by Steven Yeun) and Amy (Ali Wong), who become entangled in an escalating feud following a road rage incident.

The seventh installment sees things heating up in more ways than one, so before you proceed with the show, let’s get Beef episode 7 explained.

Beef episode 7 explained

Episode 7 of Beef, titled I Am A Cage, is arguably the most jarring yet because there is an eight-month jump in time from the events of episode 6.

Amy has landed the deal and she and her husband George have a new holiday home. Meanwhile, Danny has advanced at the church to become not just a valued member of the community but the frontman for the musical group, replacing Edwin. We also learn that Danny is romantically linked with Esther, a woman from the church.

Things have been going well for both Amy and Danny, and Danny has managed to land enough money to send for his parents in Korea and make them a home in America. As for Paul, he’s living in his own place now that Danny has moved out of the apartment they shared.

Cracks begin to form, on the other hand, when George confesses to Amy that he’s been having an emotional – not physical – affair with Mia, the woman who works in her shop. He admits he told her he was in love with her and Amy grapples with the news, weighing it up against her own infidelity. Importantly, however, George doesn’t know anything about her and Paul… yet.

Back to Danny, Edwin meets with him and suggests that Danny hasn’t been doing honest work, asking if he can join him in the “construction” business. Danny assures him that everything is above board and shakes him off, but it establishes Edwin as a fly in the ointment, so to speak.

Danny and Amy almost bury the hatchet

Later, Danny pretends to be Zane again and meets George, who invites Zane to an art party he’s throwing so he can meet his wife. Once at the gathering, we discover that Jordana and Noami are now a couple and Danny tells Amy that he came to the party to clear the air between them, once and for all.

He asks if she’s happy and it’s implied that he wants to know whether his own success will bring him peace. Her answer suggests that it will not and any potential civility they may have shared begins to crumble. She asks Danny to leave but he sticks around long enough to identify that Kayla, the woman Paul told him he was dating, is actually Amy; he discovers this because of the tattoo on her back and he references the nude he airdropped from Paul’s phone to his.

He calls the name Kayla and she turns around, confirming their affair, and Danny storms out. She follows him to his car and they argue about Paul, with Amy saying that Danny makes him feel like a child.

In a panic, Amy asks George if they can move house and he thinks it’s a great idea. Meanwhile, Danny finds Paul at his house reading through the company’s accounts, asking Danny if he’s being honest with him about the legitimacy of their business. To move the conversation away from illegal activity, Danny tells Paul that he knows about him and Amy.

Curious to learn how his brother knows Amy, he launches a series of questions that lead to Danny revealing she’s the road rage woman. He then lies, saying she called him a child, while also implying that she only slept with him to get back at Danny.

Danny’s plan up in flames

As an act of revenge, Paul tells George that he slept with his wife and has proof if he needs it. Amy witnesses the brief exchange via the doorbell camera app on her phone and races to the house only to find her husband and daughter gone.

Finally, Danny’s parents arrive in America ready to head to the house, only for the family to find that the property has been sealed off by firefighters. Danny’s house has been burned to the ground. We then cut to Amy in Burger King; she was told by Paul in an earlier scene that the fast food restaurant is something of a refuge for Danny and her going there further reinforces the parallels and similarities between them.

However, it also hints that she may have been the one responsible for burning down Danny’s house. At the end of episode 7, however, the culprit is still supposed to be ambiguous… who could have done such a thing?

Beef is streaming exclusively on Netflix.
