SANTA BARBARA, HONDURAS: A girl died at a carnival in Santa Barbara, Honduras, after she clung to a spinning ride after a safety lock broke.

When 13-year-old Britany Fernandez fell out of her seat, she was thrown into a metal bar as her shocked family looked on.

A clip of the event that has gone viral online shows that the lock on the ride that was holding the teen to her seat seemed to break. Britany was seen holding on to the ride as the wheel turned very quickly.

“Worst nightmare”: A mother remembers the TERRIFYING moment when a fairground ride snapped with her three kids on it.

What did Bruce Johnson Jr. do? 11-year-old boy is killed by his mother, who then turns the knife on herself.

Britany’s head hit a railing, and the boy’s body hit the metal platform below. People in the area rushed to help the child, but a blow to the head killed her, and she was pronounced dead soon after she got to the hospital.

Britany is thought to have hit her head on the iron railing bar, which killed her. Before Britany’s funeral on Tuesday, August 16, hundreds of her school friends held a memorial service. According to The Sun, Britany’s classmates said she was “full of life, happy, and smart.”

Estefany Pineda, a friend said, “Britany was always calm and had a nice way about her. She was kind all the time. This is so sad because she had so many hopes and dreams for her life.”

Wilmer Reyes, the headmaster of the Juan Lindo Institute, where Britany went to school, sent his condolences. “Britany was a charming and humble young girl. “She played the snare drum in the military marching band,” he said. “We are very saddened by what happened, because she was very popular at school, as shown by the fact that more than 300 students have come to comfort her family in their terrible loss.”

The headmaster asked that the fairground owners be punished harshly and that better safety measures be put in place so that this doesn’t happen again. Reyes said, “we ask that these kinds of fairground rides have greater security measures in order to prevent tragedies like this from happening again.”

Local news reports say that the fairground has been closed since the incident on August 14. The police have started looking into it, but no one has been caught yet. The case is being handled by the Police Directorate of Investigations to collect evidence and determine whether criminal action is required. Jesus Pineda of the Santa Barbara Police Department said, “From the first investigations, it was clear that Britany died by accident. The minor hit a platform on the ride, which instantly caused her death.”

Meanwhile, the owners of the fairground ride, while speaking to a local TV blamed the girl’s parents. They said, “the little girl went up unaccompanied by her parents and she fainted. It is not our fault, we have operating permits.”
