SUPREME NOVICES’ HURDLE
Key trends:
- Five and six-year-old do much the best
- Last-time winners have a strong record
- A recent run is important
- Two wins this season is a must

HOMING in on the five and six-year-old means we cross out Brandon Castle and the fancied Fakir D’Oudairies.
We can then lose any horse who didn’t win last time out, namely Angels Breath from the head of the betting.

We also lose Aramon, Beaufort West, Itchy Feet, Normal Norman, The Big Bite, The Flying Sofa, Tokay Dokey and Vision D’Honneur.
That leaves us with a shortist of Al Dancer, Elixir De Nutz, Felix Desjy, Grand Sancy, Klassical Dream, Mister Fisher and Thomas Darby.

Four of the past five winners have been above 150 in the official ratings so we can further remove Felix Desjy, Mister Fisher and Thomas Darby to leave us with a final quartet.
There’s a concern over favourite Al Dancer because he’s yet to win a Grade 1 or 2 hurdle, which seven of the past 10 winners did.
We’ll just give the verdict to KLASSICAL DREAM over Cheltenham specialist Elixir De Nutz. That’s because Willie Mullins has a good record in this race with three wins since 2013.
