The death of Captain Alex Northrup yesterday is profound for our close-knit community at Fort Leavenworth. The commander in charge of Fort Leavenworth, Lieutenant Commander Milford H. Beagle, expressed his tremendous sadness at the loss of one of his own. This succinct but impactful phrase captured the universal pain that we all felt. My sincere condolences go out to CPT Northrup’s friends and family.
Alex Northrup was a strong and devoted captain who left our military family. He was an inspiration to everyone he encountered because of his unwavering dedication to helping people and his flawless character. The values of respect, responsibility, and selflessness that define the Fort Leavenworth community were embodied by CPT Northrup. Every assignment he undertook demonstrated his commitment to his country, and he always led with poise and expertise.
