The 2000s was an interesting decade for Disney’s output, and the film that many will look back on from this period most fondly of all is perhaps The Princess And The Frog, the fantasy-infused rom-com from 2009. Fans will still be singing its irresistibly catchy songs to this day, and the central character of waitress Tiana (voiced by Anika Noni Rose) continues to inspire endless cosplays and costumes. Its tale of transformations and true love remains timeless. With Disney’s recent ambitions to reimagine its most acclaimed classics such as The Lion King and The Little Mermaid, fans of this later gem are waiting.

The Princess And The Frog live-action poster is fake

A fake poster alleging an upcoming live-action remake of Disney‘s The Princess And The Frog attracted attention on Facebook just recently and has already had thousands of shares and likes.

“Get ready for a magical leap into the bayou with Marsai Martin as the enchanting Tiana and Caleb McLaughlin lending his ribbiting charm as Prince Naveen/The Frog!” the post from Yoda Bby Aba reads.

“Things get even more thrilling with LaKeith Stanfield as magically evil Shadow Man. Disney’s dazzling live-action remake of The Princess and The Frog is set to hit theaters in 2025, promising a joyous adventure filled with laughter, love, and a sprinkle of swampy magic.”

The poster has an image of Marsai edited into the iconic green Tiana dress. However, it’s not official and the page itself specializes in satire. The Princess And The Frog is the latest in a long line of fake posters, with examples ranging from The Land Before Time to A Nightmare On Elm Street 8.

Unfortunately, Disney fans have been swept up by the convincing The Princess And The Frog poster. “I’m more excited than the kids!” one commented, with another arguing Marsai is “the perfect person” to tackle the role. “God please don’t let them screw it up, this will be such a masterpiece,” a commenter remarked.

“They are finally making it,” somebody reacted, and another commented “I’ve been waiting for this for absolutely ages, love The Princess And The Frog. I can go as far as saying it’s my
favorite.”

Lots of passionate and “excited fans who “can’t wait” in the comments are in for a colossal disappointment when they realize the poster isn’t authentic.

Is The Princess And The Frog Disney remake confirmed?

A live-action The Princess And The Frog movie hasn’t been officially announced by Disney for theaters or Disney+.

A handful of rumors have emerged over the years, with one suggesting that Lupita Nyong’o (star of Jordan Peele’s Us, Black Panther) has been considered by the studio for the central role of Tiana. However, the rumor hasn’t been substantiated by any actual announcement from Disney.

The character of Tiana in the original animated movie is 19 years old, and Lupita is 40, so this casting would be highly unlikely if a live-action movie was announced regardless.

Upcoming live-action Disney remakes that have been announced, on the other hand, include Moana, Mufasa: The Lion King, Snow White, and Bambi.
