Shaakuntalam is a 2023 Indian Telugu-language mythological drama movie, which was released on 14 April 2023 in Theatres. This film is written and directed by Gunasekhar.

Based on a famous play Abhignyana Shakuntalam (Shakuntala) by Kalidasa, the movie features Samantha in the official role of Shakuntala and Dev Mohan as Dushyanta, the king of the Puru dynasty along with Jisshu Sengupta, Mohan Babu, Aditi Balan, Madhoo, Gautami, and Ananya Nagalla in supporting roles.

In This film, Samantha is introduced as the 1st Abandoned child in human history and she is the Daughter of Vishwamitra and Menaka, Princess Shakuntala.

Shaakuntalam Box Office Collection Day 5 has seen a good opening than her prior release Yashoda. Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s Shaakuntalam, which is simulated by Kalidasa’s play Abhijnanashakuntalam premiered in the theatres on Friday 14 April 2023 to a mixed response.

The mythological drama didn’t draw a lot of crowds on its 1st day and gained Rs. 5 crores across all languages.

Shaakuntalam got an overall collection of 32.60% in Telugu states. Now, to maintain a running in the cinema halls in the coming week, Shaakuntalam must pick up the pace during the weekend.

Samatha’s previous movie Yashoda started off with approximately Rs 3 crore at the box office and ended its 1st-weekend run with Rs 10 crore net at the box office. The movie’s lifetime net collection in India was almost Rs 20 crores.

Shakuntalam is assumed to gain almost Rs 3 Crores at the box office on day 5 in South India. The box office collection of the movie in Hindi in the northern region is considered to be around Rs 40 Lakhs on the 5th day.

Shakuntalam is a much-waited movie and marks the return of Samantha Ruth Prabhu as the main lead. Shakuntalam is made on a huge budget of Rs 60 Crores and the movie will need to maintain a strong tempo to go past that amount at the box office.
