Before you can complete the Tauyosipun Shrine in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, players must first make their way over to the Hebra Mountain region on the west side of the map. From there, the shrine can be found south of its Hebra West Summit area near the peak of a small mountain. However, as it can take ages to climb to its location, it is best to glide to the shrine by launching from the Rospro Pass Skyview Tower that is north of Rito Village.

The Tauyosipun Shrine’s “Forward or Backward?” puzzles consist of four different rooms where Link must move ball structures to clear paths and unlock doors. Thus, you can expect to primarily use Link’s Recall and Ultrahand abilities to complete the entire shrine. Let’s take a look at how Link can clear each room in just a few short steps.

First Forward or Backward? Puzzle Solution

  1. Upon entering the shrine, you will need to walk near multiple ball structures that continuously roll down the only path forward.
  2. Once a ball has rolled to the bottom of the path, use Recall to move the ball backward.
  3. This should give you enough time to run up the ramp while the path is clear.
  4. Additionally, you can use Recall on the spinning wheel ahead for it to spit out a chest with a Strong Construct Bow inside.

Second Forward or Backward? Puzzle Solution

  1. For the second puzzle, you must first step on the target-shaped button to activate the blockade on the slide ahead—ultimately stopping at least one ball from falling.
  2. While doing so, utilize Ultrahand to move the other ball nearby onto the slide.
  3. You can then use Recall on the ball touching the blockade to have it fall into a bowl on the opposite end of the room.

Third Forward or Backward? Puzzle Solution

  1. Enter the newly-unlocked gate to encounter the next room, which features yet another ball rolling down multiple platforms as well as a bowl below it.
  2. Link will have to use Recall on the ball once it is directly above the bowl.
  3. You can then cancel Recall before it moves. As a result, it should land into the bowl and activate the final room’s door.

Fourth Forward or Backward? Puzzle Solution

  1. Walk into the last room to find another button accompanied by a ball, along with a bowl that moves across the room.
  2. To begin the puzzle, Link must use Ultrahand to move the ball into the bowl once it is nearby.
  3. After the bowl eventually moves above the platform across the room, activate Recall on the ball.
  4. Lastly, you will need to have the ball land on the platform by canceling Recall.

Once the ball falls into the bowl, you can enter the gate on the left side of the room. Luckily, instead of another puzzle, Link will be handed another Light of Blessing and is free to leave directly after.
