Are you looking for information about how to get the Well-Worn Hair Band in the new Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? If you are, chances are high that before playing Tears of the Kingdom, you played its predecessor, 2017’s Breath of the Wild. Playing Breath of the Wild isn’t necessary to enjoy Tears of the Kingdom, of course, but given that latter is marketed as a direct sequel, it adds another layer to the gameplay. The game’s developers missed no chance to add small nods to Breath of the Wild, from importing your horses to adding a nostalgic paraglider skin for players to find in the Great Plateau. The Well-Worn Hair Band is another one of these small additions.
How to Get the Well-Worn Hair Band in Tears of the Kingdom
In order to start looking for the Well-Worn Hair Band, first head to Hateno Village. The closest fast travel point is Zanmik Shrine. You can also travel to the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab if you have it unlocked, or glide down from the Lanayru Skyview Tower to the north. Once you’ve arrived in the village, head southwest. In the southwestern part of Hateno Village, just south of Firly Pond, you’ll find a house that Breath of the Wild players will remember from the”Hylian Homeowner” quest.
Enter the house and head upstairs, where you’ll find Zelda’s Journal. Read the journal and on the third page, you’ll find Zelda talking about how Bolson from Hudson Construction helped her add a secret room onto the house. The secret room won’t appear on the plans for the house, but Zelda describes it as comfortable and useful for when she’s working alone. In order to find the Well-Worn Hair Band, you need to find that room.
Leave the house and turn left – behind the house, you’ll find a well. Jump down the well to discover “Zelda’s Secret Well”. In the small cave under the well, you’ll see a desk surrounded by Zelda’s research materials. On the desk is Zelda’s diary, and you can read it to receive the “A New Champion’s Tunic” side quest. We’re more focused on the chest to the left of the desk, though. Open the chest and you’ll receive the “Well-Worn Hair Band”.
The Well-Worn Hair Band is a clothing item with a 0 armor rating, but it’s described as making you “sentimental about times past”. If you put it on, the hair band will give Link the pulled-back hairstyle he was sporting in Breath of the Wild. Whether or not you wear the hair band won’t have any effect on your Tears of the Kingdom gameplay. If you’re nostalgic about Breath of the Wild, then this is the hairpiece for you.
