“Couldn't find any local stores selling pools so I decided to build my own,” he said.

Explaining his method, he wrote: “Got a flat area in the backyard and levelled it out. Had an old stump from a palm tree I had to remove first.

“I put in the ground four 4x4 posts for side strength. Concreted them in 2 feet deep.”

The dad then used cedarwood panels to construct the outside and then added a layer of tarp as a liner.

He revealed that the whole project had cost him around £350, a fraction of the cost of a professionally built pool.

Fellow Redditors were seriously impressed, although one pointed out that he could have made the job even easier.

Commenting, they wrote, “If you made this out of cedar and used canoe joints you wouldn't need the liner.

“Eventually it'll get waterlogged and hold water.”
