IES Abroad Summer Internships - School of Professional & Continuing Studies

The University partners with IES Abroad to offer international summer internships in several cities worldwide. IES is responsible for securing placements and housing assignments. Students interested in applying for an internship through IES should complete the IES application and the UR participation form (link available in January).

Students from all majors are eligible to apply. The placements listed below are available, but custom placements may also be made, depending on availability. Discuss your specific internship needs with our Summer School program manager, Cheryl Genovese, at or 804-289-8134.

IES internships are open to students in all years, including first-years and those who have just graduated. Continuing UR students may be eligible for funding from the UR Summer Fellowships or Weinstein Summer Grants programs.

Application Overview

1. Submit IES application online
2. Submit UR participation form
3. Contact Cheryl Genovese in the Summer School Office to submit $300 deposit
4. Submit IES Confirmation Form with $500 deposit

2023 Application Deadlines

• IES application: February 9
  • Paris & London applications: February 2
• UR Register Participation form: February 15
• IES confirmation form deposit: Within 3 weeks of admission
• IES balance due: Invoiced mid-April, due no later than departure
