She is taking Helios Mars Mission in a new direction and is on track to become the CEO of the company.
But in the last episode of the season, Karen will meet a terrible end. After the heartbreaking season 3 finale of “For All Mankind,” you may be wondering what will happen to Karen and what will happen to Shantel VanSanten on the show. Here is everything you need to know.
Is Karen Baldwin Dead?
In the third season, Karen Baldwin joins Helios after her company Polaris, which was about space tourism, failed. Dev Ayesa and Karen work well together, and they come up with the Helios Mars Mission, which is led by Karen’s ex-husband, Ed Baldwin. But Karen soon gets tired of Dev’s ways and starts going her own way in the company. At the end of season 3, in the episode “Stranger in a Strange Land,” Karen tells Dev that she has been asked to become CEO.
In the episode, Karen is working with NASA at the Johnson Space Center to bring their astronauts back from Mars. At the base, she meets Jimmy. Karen doesn’t know that Jimmy and his anti-NASA friends are planning something bad. Explosives have been put in a van that is parked outside the Johnson Space Center. Karen saves Jimmy in the end, but she can’t get away before the bomb goes off. She is buried under the rubble and was badly hurt in the explosion. As Jimmy holds Karen’s hand, she takes her last breath.
Are Shantel VanSanten and For All Mankind breaking up?
In the movie “For All Mankind,” Shantel VanSanten plays Karen Baldwin. The actress is probably best known for her roles as Patty Spivot in “The Flash” and Becca Butcher in “The Boys.” VanSanten has been a regular on “For All Mankind” for all three of its seasons. Her character is an important part of the story about Ed Baldwin and Kelly Baldwin. Also, Karen’s story is complicated and has many different parts. She goes from being a worried housewife to a capable business owner.
It looks like VanSanten’s time on the show is over now that Karen has died. Karen’s death is a sad event that shows how selfless the character is. It also brings the character arc to a close while giving Ed and Kelly new emotional problems to deal with. Even though neither the show’s creators nor VanSanten have said so officially, it seems unlikely that she will be back in future episodes.
The show has already been picked up for a fourth season, but VanSanten probably won’t be a part of it. The actress will next be seen in the crime drama film “American Murderer.” She also plays Special Agent Nina Chase in the police drama “FBI” in recurring roles. So, people who watch these projects can expect to see more of VanSanten. VanSanten is expected to leave “For All Mankind” after the season 3 finale.
