The warden of the jail, Muthuvel Pandian (Rajnikanth), foils the efforts by putting on a show for the remaining criminals. The plot of Jailer is around Tiger Muthuvel Pandian (Rajinikanth), an ex-prisoner who is out to exact revenge on a gang trading in ancient temple artefacts for the killing of his son, ACP Arjun (Vasanth Ravi). But he runs into a number of unforeseen issues that endanger his own family, including Vijaya (Ramya Krishnan), Shwetha (Mirnaa Menon), and granddaughter Rithvik.
