On Monday, December 25, 2023, Margaret H. Lenore, 89, of Marquette, went away at UP Health System – Marquette.
Margaret Wessman, daughter of Helgie and Florence (Larson) Wessman, was raised in Sweden and attended Graveraet High School. She was born on October 28, 1934, in Marquette.
Margaret and John Lenore were married in St. Peter Cathedral on June 16, 1956. She was a faithful and loving mother and wife who really valued her time with her family. She was also sincere and compassionate.
Margaret worked as a secretary for the City of Marquette for thirty years. She had positions in the Police Department, Board of Light and Power, and as the City Manager’s secretary. In 1996, she announced her retirement. She loved to travel, plant, and take walks on the Island in her own time.
John, Margaret’s 67-year spouse; sons, Michael Lenore of Marquette and John Lenore of Negaunee Township; sister, Linda Cornill of Norway, MI; and several nieces and nephews survive her. Her brothers, Peter Wessman, Leonard, David, and Birger Wessman, all passed away before her.
The Holy Cross Cemetery will be the place of interment, and private family graveside ceremonies will be held.
