Parag Desai was a married man and his wife’s name was Vidisha Desai they together blessed with a daughter named Parisha Desai.

Parag Desai, the executive director of Gujarat Tea Processors and Packers Limited, renowned for its Wagh Bakri tea brand, tragically passed away on October 22.

This came a week after he was injured while trying to fend off stray dogs. He was 49 years old. On October 15, Desai slipped outside his home in Ahemadabad while attempting to shoo away street dogs and was promptly taken to Shelby Hospital.

The next day, he underwent surgery at Zydus Hospital but sadly succumbed to a brain hemorrhage on October 22.

Parag Desai, who earned his MBA from Long Island University in the US, played a pivotal role in the growth of the Wagh Bakri Tea Group.

He led the sales, marketing, and export departments and was an expert in tea tasting and evaluation.

Desai also oversaw the group’s evolution into tea lounges and e-commerce.

Additionally, he actively participated in industry organizations such as the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and international groups.

He was the fourth-generation entrepreneur in the premium tea company and is survived by his wife, Vidisha, and daughter, Parisha.

Parag Desai, with his MBA from Long Island University in New York, was not only passionate about tea but also engaged in sustainability projects and had interests in travel and wildlife.

When he joined the company in 1995, its value was less than Rs 100 crore, but his contributions were instrumental in transforming the Wagh Bakri Tea Group.

Today, under his leadership, the company has become one of India’s leading packaged tea companies, with a turnover of over Rs 2,000 crore and distribution of more than 50 million kg of tea.

The Wagh Bakri Tea Group operates in 24 Indian states and exports its products to approximately 60 countries.

Desai’s vision led to the introduction of tea lounges and the company’s expanded presence in e-commerce, social media, and digital platforms.
