LOVE them or loathe them, there's no doubt that the cycling short trend has exploded onto the style scene of late.

But when we were just about wrapping our heads around Lycra becoming the height of fashion, Missguided has gone and released a pair of mesh shorts which leave nothing to the imagination.

  • Black Mesh Cycling Shorts, £10 from Missguided - buy now

Yes for just £10, you can now buy a pair of mesh three-quarter length shorts that will leave your pants completely on show.

Attempting to bridge the gap between sportwear and high fashion, this, erm, experimental design wouldn't look out of place at a 90s rave.

But for everyday wear? We're not entirely convinced.

What's more, Missguided promise that the bizarre mesh pants will leave wearers with a "black hue all over".

Styling it with a cropped fluorescent orange hoodie and chunky Dad trainers on the website, the model's black undies are still completely visible under the mesh netting.

And while we can get on board with the cycling short trend as long as it's comfy, we're probably going to leave the mesh clothing to diehard festival-goers this season.

Somebody pass the bog standard Lycra please...
