Formally from Lynchburg, passed away on Friday in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.She spent 62 years as R.V. Hurst’s wife.She was born in Sevierville, Tennessee on November 29, 1921. Her parents were the late John L. Lane and Ida Hixon Lane.
Opal is survived by her son Michael W. Hurst and his wife Rita of Brighton, CO; and her brother Newell Lane and sisters Johnnie Marie Simpson and Patricia Blackmore. She was preceded in death by her husband R. V., a son Gregory L. Hurst, and brothers Jack and Clifton Lane.
Mrs. Hurst was a member of Peakland United Methodist Church for fifty years; and reveled in all aspects of her church life, teaching Sunday School, and working on behalf of numerous community outreach programs.
