Pele was born Edson Arantes do Nascimento. His birth date was 23 October 1940, and his birthplace is Três Corações, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Pele was the son of Fluminense footballer Dondinho (born Joao Ramos do Nascimento) and Celeste Arantes.
