Rooster Teeth has been around for a while now, recently celebrating their 15th-year anniversary. To put that in perspective, the company has even been around longer than YouTube. As a result, they became one of the leading channels on the platform once it began to take off. But time has taken its toll on poor YouTube, and as a result, RT and its other channels are focusing more on their own site.

At a panel devoted to Rooster Teeth Animation at last weeks Anime Expo, head writer of animation and well-known personality Miles Luna addressed the slow breakup the company has been going through with YouTube over the years.

“People have heard about the Adpocalypse and YouTube algorithms. They’re not great,” Luna said. “We had a video that was up for five years that is now demonetized because it has a condom in it. Now we can’t make money off that video anymore. So YouTube kills us.”

Luna also stated that they don’t put shows like Camp Camp on YouTube anymore because the revenue it generates simply isn’t profitable. As a result, full episodes Camp Camp are only available on the RT website this season, with teasers being posted to YouTube.

At the moment, the majority of Rooster Teeth’s content still finds its way to YouTube, so don’t worry too much about not being able to access all of your favorite RT content. Keep in mind that RT First memberships are free though, even if there are specific shows that require a paid membership.

For example, Funhaus, another channel under the Let’s Play family, has numerous shows that are standard/premium First member exclusives (Twits and Crits, Fullhaus, E3 Drunk Streams).

Head over to Roosterteeth.com if you are interested in the pricing tier, with standard First membership starting at $4.99 a month.
