An online obituary on Sunday, October 15, 2023, announced the passing of Ryan Peterson from Moline, Illinois.

Ryan was a husband, loving father to his five children, a coach and pillar of strength and faith in the Quad Cities. He was a teammate and friend to many.

Moline Youth Football mourn Ryan’s passing via a tribute post shared on Facebook.

“Moline Youth Football would like to send our condolences to the Peterson family and friends. Coach Peterson has been with us for two seasons as an assistant coach in the Jr. Maroons Football program without even having a child in the program. He coached with total effort the same way he played for Moline High School Football,” the post read.

“Coach Peterson had a true love for the game while teaching our young athletes to play the right way. He touched and influenced so many lives in his time with our program and that will never be forgotten. From everyone at Moline Youth Football, thank you Petey.”

I’ve had a hard time finding the words for this. Doesn’t seem real, we were just talking Jr. Maroons linemen yesterday morning during the Mud Dogs game. Your passion and drive to make an impact on our program was second to none. You didn’t even have a child of your own in the program but it was like they were all your children on the football field. My heart breaks for the Peterson family and friends. If you can help them out please see the link below. Thank you.

Rest In peace Ryan Peterson. I really enjoyed getting to know you. You have no idea how much Brody has looked up to you. Thank you for being apart of our lives and all our Mud Dogs are better players and men because of you. I hope you give us guidance from above. My prayers are with your family buddy. We are Moline!
