Scott Gibson was born October 28, 1969, to Corine Varga and James Gibson (deceased). On June 7, 2008, they wed and began an amazing journey filled with love and adventure together. Scott had an enduring dedication to family; his greatest joy in life lay in fathering Tyler Raymond Gibson and Kellen George Gibson, who were his two sons.
Education and Career
After graduating from Kane High School in 1987, Scott continued his studies at Gannon University and earned a bachelor of accountancy degree. Driven to achieve excellence, Scott embarked on a 30-year career at Clarion Sintered Metals where he served as Controller – something his dedication made evident by reaching this landmark event when his life abruptly came to an end due to unexpected illness. At his passing away he had just celebrated this significant milestone.
As an active member of the Kane community, Scott was not only dedicated to his family and professional duties but was also actively engaged. A past member of the Kane Country Club and current member of Kane Elks BPOE #329, Scott also shared his love of sports beyond personal life by passing down his interest in bowling and golf to his sons, as well as coaching them in baseball, basketball, and football – leaving an indelible mark on many young athletes whom he mentored along the way.
One of Scott’s proudest moments came in 2021 when he helped coach the Kane Tornadoes football team to a League Championship victory. His dedication and ability to motivate young athletes were truly admirable. Looking ahead, Scott was excited about joining Olean Area Youth Football League’s Little 30 coaching staff – further proof of his dedication and unwavering commitment towards developing young talent.
Sports Enthusiast
Scott Gibson loved sports. As an avid follower himself, he held particular affection for Carolina Tar Heels basketball, Penn State football, the Boston Red Sox, and Las Vegas Raiders – as well as watching matches together with family and friends was a cherished tradition in his household.
Adventuresome Spirit
Scott had an adventurous spirit that inspired all who knew him to discover new places and explore. His travels took him through national parks in California, Peru and even to Machu Picchu itself in 2016. One of his most unforgettable trips was watching Penn State win at Rose Bowl Live from Pasadena with his wife and sons as he witnessed it live in Pasadena, California in January 2023 – his love of discovering new things was an integral part of life for those close to him. Scott left an indelible mark on those he met along the way! His adventurous spirit and desire to discover new places enriched all who met him along the way.
Scott leaves behind his loving family including Kathy and Tyler/Kellen as well as mother Corine and an extended network including sister Sherri, brothers Steve “Dewey” and Terry “TJ,” stepfather Tom Varga, stepmother Linda Gibson, mother-in-law Anastasia Lindquist; father Karl Lindquist; brother George Lindquist and sisters-in-law Natalie Benek and Michele Rich – in addition to leaving behind twelve nieces/nephews/nephes/nephes/ nephews/nephes/close friends.
