She was born on August 28, 1977, in Mumbai, India. Shilpa made her acting debut in 1999 with the television show Kabhi Aaye Na Judaai. She gained popularity with her portrayal of the character Angoori Bhabhi in the popular sitcom Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai! for which she won the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Comic Role. Apart from television, Shilpa has also appeared in a few Bollywood films such as Chhina and Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi. She has also participated in reality shows such as Bigg Boss 11 and Nach Baliye 6. Shilpa has won several awards for her performances, including the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Negative Role for her role in the television show Maayka. She is also known for her philanthropic work and has actively supported causes such as education and women's empowerment.
