Shooting East Northport: 1 Man Dead Following Police-Involved Shooting in East Northport
Shooting East Northport: Police say one man has died following a police-involved shooting in East Northport.
It is not yet clear how the police were involved.
Suffolk County police said that police homicide squad detectives are investigating the shooting that occurred on Mander Lane at 8:45 p.m.
The man was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police have closed the entire block of Mander Lane and adjacent Darien Place, where their command post is set up.
Neighbours tell News 12 that a resident on Mander Lane has been struggling with mental health issues. The neighbour added that officers had been called to the home multiple times on Tuesday and that things escalated, ending in a shooting around 8:45 p.m.
