The Machine sees Bert Kreischer playing himself and while the film is inspired by real events, it fails to tell the true story of his daughter’s ‘arrest.’
Comedian Bert Kreischer is famed for recounting the story of when he became involved with the Russian mafia and while it’s a tale he previously shared at parties and during his stand-up comedy routines, the incredible saga has now inspired a film titled The Machine. The action-packed comedy, which has just landed on Netflix in the US, stars Kreischer as himself and also includes a fictionalized version of his own family.
Bert Kreischer’s daughters
Bert Kreischer and his wife LeeAnn have two daughters, Georgia and Ila.
Born on June 8, 2004, Georgia is the couple’s eldest child and turned 19 earlier in 2023. She is named after the state of Georgia which is where her mother was born and raised.
Meanwhile, Ila is the younger of the two siblings as she was born on July 19, 2006, and recently turned 17 years old. Ila (pictured in the middle below, Georgia on the right) is reportedly named after a late aunt within the family.
The Machine features fictionalized versions of Bert’s family
While Bert Kreischer may play himself in the action-comedy, his family has been fictionalized in the film, with actors playing his wife, daughters and father, Albert, who is played by Star Wars legend Mark Hamill.
Bert’s wife and father in the film share the same names as their real-life counterparts but his daughters have had their names changed for the movie.
Rather than Georgia and Ila, Bert’s daughters in the film are named Sasha and Tatiana. Sasha is the older of the two fictional siblings, which makes her the movie equivalent of Georgia while Tatiana is Ila’s fictional counterpart.
Bert has a somewhat tense relationship with his daughters in the film, notably with Sasha after he live-streamed her getting arrested when she attempted to drive him home while he was intoxicated.
Was Bert Kreischer’s daughter really arrested?
No, neither of Bert Kreischer’s daughters have been arrested in real life.
As The Machine features Bert playing a version of himself, fans have been left asking exactly where the lines between fiction and reality blend together within the film and this extends to the plot point of Sasha being arrested.
While neither Georgia nor Ila have been arrested in reality, there is a real-life incident that may have inspired this plot point within the film.
In June 2022, Bert posted a video to TikTok where he received a phone call from his wife LeeAnn in the middle of recording an episode for the 2 Bears, 1 Cave podcast which he hosts alongside Tom Segura.
LeeAnn informed Bert that their youngest daughter Ila had gotten in trouble at school for gambling and had been detained in the principal’s office.
Ila was caught playing the dice game Left Right Center for money at lunch and found herself in hot water at her all-girls Catholic school but was not actually arrested.
Bert’s video quickly went viral and earned over 11 million views on TikTok.
The Machine is available to stream on Netflix in the US after hitting the streaming service on Saturday, September 23, 2023.
