Season 1 of "The Owl House" follows Luz's quest to learn magic and prove herself as a capable witch in the Boiling Isles. Luz successfully adapts to the magical realm, and soon enough she's training to advance her affinity for light magic. Along the way, Luz meets Willow and Gus and becomes quite close with them, while she continually clashes with Amity, a competitive, standoffish witch at Hexside. But as Luz and Amity get to know each other more, Amity develops a crush on the other girl. By the end of Season 1, it appears that the feeling is mutual, although fans of "The Owl House" will have to tune into Season 2 to see how their relationship continues to develop.

Luz on "The Owl House" is the first openly bisexual lead character on Disney. Terrace revealed more on her Twitter, saying, "when we were greenlit I was told by certain Disney leadership that I could not represent any form of bi or gay relationship." Thankfully, Terrace continued to push to represent a wider array of audiences in the LGBTQ+ community — including herself, as Terrace identifies as bisexual — and said, "luckily my stubbornness paid off and now I am very supported by current Disney leadership."

Of course, on top of Luz being bisexual, which in itself is a big accomplishment "The Owl House," the show depicts the character in a happy, sweet relationship with a gay character, Amity. The two witches are only the second group of animated queer characters on Disney, after Sheriff Blubs and Deputy Durland of "Gravity Falls." Season 2 of "The Owl House" will likely continue to explore Luz and Amity's relationship, Luz's skill for magic, as well as her mentor Eda's trials with her curse.
