Pancreatic disease claimed the life of Coach Tomislav Markovic, affectionately known as “Big Tommy,” and the basketball community in Milwaukee and beyond is in grief. Hailing from Serbia, he started playing basketball at a young age.

His passion for the sport led him to Milwaukee, where he left a lasting impression as a coach. In addition to being a coach, “Big Tommy” was a mentor, friend, and advisor to many young players, establishing a legacy that is highly valued.

January 15, 2024, saw the tragic passing of Tomislav Markovic, also known as “Big Tommy,” for the Milwaukee soccer community.

The Wisconsin soccer community is grieving the loss of a gentle and kind-hearted soul, as his death has left many terribly upset.

Tomislav committed his life to soccer and the Croatian community. He was a beloved member of the Croatian Eagles Soccer Club and a co-founder of Hrvat Milwaukee.
