Mormon No More is a new series on Hulu that depicts the struggles of two Mormon mothers as they investigate their faith in light of their newly discovered LGBTQ identity. Take a look at the timeline of their relationship and read about how they fell in love.
Who are Sally Osborne and Lena Schwen?
The primary protagonists of the Mormon No More television series, which will make its debut on Hulu this coming Friday, are Lena Schwen and Sally Osborne. They are two Mormon mothers who met, fell in love, and then left the church. Now they are coming to terms with who they are as LGBT adults in their adulthood.
The two individuals quickly realized that they shared more than just a platonic relationship after being brought together by a common acquaintance. The following events are chronicled throughout the series as the couple works through the challenges of leaving the Mormon faith, co-parenting their seven children, and making arrangements for their wedding.
The Mormon religion and culture are connected to the primary branch of the Latter Day Saint movement that was founded by Joseph Smith. Mormons are a religious and cultural group. They hold their own personal convictions.
One of these is the belief that the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, his resurrection, and his divine nature are all historically accurate events. According to them, following the death of Jesus, God sent other prophets. As a result, they consider themselves to be the revitalization of the original church that Jesus Christ planted.
As of the year 2022, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also known as the LDS Church) will enforce its code of virtue, which will outlaw any forms of gay or same-sex sexual conduct. In addition, the religion says that God frowns upon marriages between people of the same gender.
As a result, as members of the Mormon faith, the two mothers have a difficult time letting go of their deeply ingrained beliefs and coming to terms with their sexuality while simultaneously attempting to preserve their connections to their former husbands, children, and other members of their families.
A Timeline of the Relationship Between Lena Schwen and Sally Osborne
When Lena Schwen and Sally Osborne first met, both of them were happily married to other people. Both of them were working toward the goal of establishing an ideal Mormon family.
Lena and Paul Schwen had been married for four years when they started their family. During that time, Lena had given birth to four children. Sally Harris, on the other hand, tied the knot with her current husband, Shane Harris, after she was 20 years old. She became a mother to three children.
However, as a result of two of their mothers falling in love with one another, their families had to be reorganized. Nevertheless, the ex-husbands of both women are supportive of their desires to live life in a way that is consistent with accepting who they are; the support provided for caring for the new family is different.
Paul, Lena’s former partner, has integrated himself into the new dynamic of their family, but Shane has distanced himself from the family. However, because it was such a big surprise for him when she came out, Sally doesn’t hold that against him at all.
When he found out that his wife was actually a homosexual, his entire life came crashing down around him. The journey to a new life had been challenging for the ladies, but they have successfully settled into their new house with seven children who refer to themselves as “A rainbow Family.” They have now moved on to the preparation phase for the wedding.
Love Story of Lena Schwenn and Sally Osborne
A common friend brought Lena Schwen and Sally Osborne together at a party hosted by their respective Mormon wards. They quickly came to the conclusion that their relationship consisted of more than just a friendship. In the end, it was love that brought them together.
According to Osborne, she tied the knot with Shane Harris, who is now her ex-husband, not long after she turned 20. A few years of touring as Love You Long Time with Sally’s brother preceded the couple’s decision to have a family, during which time they also began bearing children. They are parents of three children.
On the other side, Schwen had a Catholic upbringing up to the age of 18, when she converted to the Mormon faith. But after she converted to Mormonism, she started to feel as though it was her world because it was secure.
She repressed the feelings that made her uneasy and used those feelings to convince herself that the life she was living was the life that the Lord wished to give her. However, everything changed for the better when John discovered love in Sally.
Even though the couple worried that their decision would have a negative impact on their children and thought that they were acting in a self-centered manner, they eventually battled to let go of Mormonism and find pleasure in their lives.
