With so many credits in a variety of mediums, it's safe to say Matthew Labyorteaux has a unique perspective on the entertainment industry. And even though he's continued to work over all these years, many of his interviews are related to his earlier work on projects like "Little House on the Prairie." Unlike a lot of voice actors, he doesn't have much of a presence on the convention circuit, but one "Yu-Gi-Oh! GX" fan did manage to find a snippet from an interview where he discusses his voiceover work.
Redditor u/Complete-Log1016 found a video of Labyorteaux talking about his career from a recording booth. He offered his thoughts on how he fits into the voiceover artist mold, "I've done my share of animation. It's not really my forte. There's some guys that are just such amazing voice actors that can do voices that I can't do." He continues to describe his approach to voice acting, which is simply to bring honesty to a performance. But he is aware of specific trends throughout his animation career: "Whenever I do an animation show, like 'Yu-Gi-Oh!,' I always play young, really courageous young lead that's just optimistic, and, you know, doing it for just all the right reasons!"
It's unclear how many "Little House on the Prairie" fans also enjoy "Yu-Gi-Oh! GX," but Labyorteaux can at least boast about having fans from all across the pop culture spectrum.
