Why do Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have separate New Year’s plans?

The Voice gave Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani the spark to start a romance that is still going strong. They chose to tie the knot in July 2021, in addition to competing on the show.

The couple shares their love with fans and appears to be inseparable since getting married. Surprisingly, though, Stefani claims that the happy couple will not be spending New Year’s Eve together. 

The “Sweet Escape” singer explained why she will be spending the holiday apart from her husband, a country singer, in an interview with Access Hollywood before Monday night’s episode of The Voice.

Stefani’s three sons, Apollo, age 9, Zuma, age 14, and Kingston, age 17, witnessed the marriage ceremony of Stefani and Shelton on July 3, 2021, at Shelton’s ranch in Oklahoma. Stefani has two boys with musician Gavin Rossdale, her ex-husband. 

She described a surprising emotional moment she experienced during the couple’s nuptials in November.  

“Getting married is not something I ever thought I would do. That’s just insane that happened,” she said in an interview.

The “Sweet Escape” singer, 54, revealed in an interview ahead of “The Voice” finale that she and her husband have separate plans for New Year’s Eve.

Stefani said to Access Hollywood on Monday, “Well, it is funny because I was going to be at his show, and then Vegas called and wanted me to be in Vegas.”

Shelton was set to perform at “New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash,” which was hosted by Entertainment Tonight’s Rachel Smith and Elle King.

Stefani spoke with Access Hollywood before the start of The Voice’s finale about the program, the competitors, and potential future developments in 2024. While having her own New Year’s resolutions, the hitmaker revealed she would be apart from Shelton on New Year’s Eve.

Stefani said she “never” wanted to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Sin City after hosting a party at The Venetian in Las Vegas.

“But you sometimes want to not be the host,” she said of her change of heart. “I chose to proceed with the task at hand. “If you are working, I will work too. I am just going to fly in and out, which will be fantastic. I’m looking forward to it.”

Shelton, 47, and she will not be singing their duets of “Happy Anywhere,” “Nobody But You,” “Love Is Alive,” or their most recent holiday single, “You Make It Feel Like Christmas,” it is safe to assume. It is unclear where she will be performing this year.

Stefani stated that she wants to “put out a record,” “be more consistent” in maintaining her physical and mental wellness, and “keep loving” her partner in 2024.

Shelton expressed his desire to reduce his alcohol intake in the new year in an interview with Entertainment Tonight earlier this month.

“I still have not been able to give up drinking. “Even making cuts has been difficult,” he remarked. Still, it is a conclusion. And I will say it once more, this is my goal for the new year. to reduce or give up alcohol completely.”

In addition to not celebrating the new year together, Stefani revealed some of her goals for the year, which included focusing on her health, “putting out a record,” and her marriage to Shelton. 

She added that the time may not be too far off for fans hoping to hear new songs from the singer. 

Apart from the holiday, Stefani always remembers Shelton. She once admitted to the impact he had on her life. “He changed my life. I felt at home and was like, “Oh, this is where I am supposed to be, with this guy,” when I started dating Blake.
